How can checkcashing.us be contacted?
Enquiries can be made through the contact page. Payment is never requested by telephone or email.
Can a US check be cashed outside the United States?
Yes. Eligible US-dollar checks, including IRS tax refund checks and US Treasury checks, are processed for payees in supported countries and paid in US dollars to a bank account in the payee’s own name. No US bank account, Social Security number or US address is required.
How much does it cost?
Nothing is charged upfront, and payment will never be requested in advance. A fee of 10% of the face value of the check is deducted from the proceeds. Charges levied by receiving or intermediary banks, if any, are outside the control of checkcashing.us.
Does the original check need to be posted?
No. The endorsed check is photographed front and back and deposited electronically. The original is kept safe for 60 days after the funds are paid, produced on request, and then destroyed.
Can more than one check be submitted?
Yes. Each check is submitted as a separate application and processed independently. Identity verification and documents approved for an earlier application within the last 90 days can be reused: the option appears in the application and is confirmed by a code sent to the email address on file. A new tax return or withholding form is needed only where a check relates to a different tax year or payer.
Can a check payable to more than one person be accepted?
Checks payable to more than one person are reviewed individually. Each payee named on the check completes identity verification and endorses the check, and payment is made to an account held in the names of all payees. Enquiries can be made through the contact page.
How should the check be endorsed?
Signed on the back by the payee named on the front, with the words “For remote deposit only at checkcashing.us” written below the signature. Nothing else should be written on the check.
In which currency are funds paid?
In US dollars, by international wire. Any conversion is made by the receiving bank.
How long does it take?
Funds are paid 14 days after the check clears (30 days for checks over USD 100,000; 60 days over USD 250,000), once identity verification is complete. Each stage is confirmed by email.
Why are identity documents required?
Customer identification, sanctions screening and record keeping are required of money services businesses under the US Bank Secrecy Act.
Is a cheque the same as a check?
Yes. “Check” is the US spelling and “cheque” the British and international spelling of the same instrument.
